Morjina

Textiles

My name is Morjina. My daughters’ names are Sultana and Shati. Sultana is in a girls’ hostel so that she can continue her education. I earn piece-rate for making kantha blankets at Basha. I can earn more money this way than I could somewhere else.
My past life was very painful and I was unable to afford food to eat properly. Now I am able to provide for my family. My daughters are doing well. I am able to pay for a portion of Sultana’s hostel fees and I know she is learning good things at school.
I like my job making sari blankets and I praise God every day before starting work. I feel proud that, as a group leader, I can help other women. I am becoming a good leader. My dream is for my daughters to be well educated and not to have the painful life I had.
